Despite human sinfulness and weaknesses, God by His sovereign design appoints men as instruments to lead, nurture, and protect His people. And He has given us certain qualifications on who should lead the church and how. Men who aspire the ministry and demonstrate the transforming work of Christ and the fruit of the Spirit, and who are faithful, available, and teachable—are those who should serve the church and should be encouraged to do so. When we embrace God’s will on church leadership, we can be assured that through these qualified men, Christ continues to shepherd us until the end.
Church leaders are to reflect God’s leadership and care for His people. As God’s stewards, men called to oversee the church must lead by godly example, nourish God’s people with His Word, and protect them from errors.
